Professionalism Course

Maintaining high standards of professionalism during VCE sessions is crucial for effective learning and patient care. Our Professionalism Course should be completed prior to joining your first session and covers key elements such as:

  • Quiet, private space

Ensure you are in a distraction-free environment during the session.

  • Use of a camera

Keep your camera on throughout the session to maintain engagement and professionalism.

  • Appropriate attire

Dress as you would for an in-person clinical setting.

  • Maintaining boundaries

Respect the virtual space and interaction limits.

  • Communication

Engage in clear, respectful, and professional communication.

  • Background

Ensure your background is plain and free of distractions.

  • Session privacy

Make sure no unauthorised persons can see or hear your session.

These guidelines will help you navigate the virtual environment with the same professionalism expected in a physical clinical setting.

To do the Professionalism course

  1. Log in to your VCE web app at VirtualCE.

  2. Click 'Professionalism course' at the top of the VCE web app's screen.

  3. Do the course. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete the course, but you can pause it at any time and your progress will be saved.

Essential hardware and connection requirements

To ensure a smooth experience during VCE sessions, it's important to have the right hardware and internet connection. Below are the ideal requirements:

A Laptop/ Desktop computer with:

  • Internal or external webcam

  • Operating system: An up-to-date version of Windows or macOS.

  • Browser: Google Chrome is the recommended browser (version 49 or above).

Note: the VCE web app is not compatible with these browsers: Safari and Microsoft Explorer.

  • Headset with microphone

  • Modern CPU: Quad-core processor (e.g., Intel i5 or equivalent) to handle multiple high-resolution video streams.

  • RAM: 16 GB or more to support video conferencing and multiple incoming streams.

An internet connection with:

  • At least 20 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload to accommodate one outgoing and multiple incoming video streams.

To test your internet connection's bandwidth at visit fast.com. Wait for the test to run, and click on "More Info", and take note of the results.

Note: The above configuration will help you participate smoothly in sessions with up to 20 participants. If your system does not meet these requirements, you might still be able to join sessions with fewer participants, but we cannot guarantee a smooth experience.

If you need further assistance, you can:

  1. Use the support tool (bottom right) in the VCE™ web app to ask a specific question. It has many more solutions for you.

  2. If you don’t find what you need, send us a message through the same tool.
