To ensure a smooth experience during your VCE™ session, it’s important to test and manage your devices beforehand. This can be done on the Dashboard, in the ‘Device test centre’ tab. This guide will walk you through how to select, test, and manage the devices you’ll be using.
Device test centre
Connection requirements
Before starting your session, make sure your connection meets the requirements. This includes checking your internet speed and stability. Refer to the Network configuration and testing for more detailed instructions on how to verify that your connection is sufficient for the session.
Adding and selecting devices
You can add and select up to 10 default devices in the test centre. This includes cameras, smart glasses, external screens, and digital devices such as otoscopes and stethoscopes. If you unplug a device, the system will remember it and attempt to reconnect it automatically when it's plugged back in.
Testing your devices
Before each session, it’s crucial to test all connected devices that you wish to use, to ensure that they are functioning correctly. This step helps prevent any technical issues during the live session.
The following devices can be tested directly from the test centre:
Camera: Ensure your video feed is clear and correctly positioned.
Microphone: Test the microphone to confirm that your audio is clear and free of background noise.
Speakers: Check the speakers to make sure you can hear audio clearly.
Smart Glasses: Test your smart glasses to verify that they are connected and functioning as expected.
Note:
You do need to click 'Select camera / microphone / speaker'. This will open a dropdown menu in which you can select the specific camera, microphone, and/or speaker that you want to test.
The test centre will include additional device previews, such as:
Stethoscope preview: For checking the audio quality of heart and lung sounds.
Dermatoscope preview: To ensure clear imaging for skin examinations.
Otoscope preview: For visualising ear structures.
Monitor preview: To verify external monitors are displaying correctly.
When you plug in a device and the platform does not recognise this, this might be because you use a device that is not supported by VCE™. See the green bubble below.
