Using a VCE Connector Hub for Medical Video Integration in VCE™
A VCE Connector Hub enables you to integrate external video sources, such as radiology stations and surgical monitors, into your VCE™ sessions, allowing for high-quality video streaming in medical environments. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up and using a VCE Connector Hub effectively within the VCE™ web app.
Requirements
A compatible VCE Connector Hub (Magewell)
A computer/laptop on which the VCE™ session will run
External medical video source (e.g., radiology workstation, surgical monitor)
HDMI cable, to connect the video source to the VCE Connector Hub
USB cable, to connect the VCE Connector Hub to your computer
Setup and Usage
1. Connect the Medical Video Source to the VCE Connector Hub
Use an HDMI cable to connect the output of your medical video source (e.g., PACS workstation, endoscopic camera, or surgical monitor) to the input port of the VCE Connector Hub.
Ensure that the video source is powered on and set to the correct output mode (e.g., HDMI output, DVI-to-HDMI adapter if required).
2. Connect the VCE Connector Hub to Your Computer
Use the USB cable provided with the VCE Connector Hub to connect it to an available USB port on your laptop or PC.
Once connected, your computer should recognize the VCE Connector Hub automatically. If drivers are needed, follow the on-screen instructions to install them.
3. Test the Video Feed
In the VCE™ web app, preview the video feed from the VCE Connector Hub to ensure it is functioning correctly. Use the 'Device Test Centre,' which can be found on the Dashboard.
Add monitor: Please use the 'monitor preview' icon to test the feed.
Using the VCE Connector Hub During a Session
During your VCE™ session, the VCE Connector Hub will stream the video feed from the medical source directly to the participants.
If prompted, accept the VCE Connector Hub as the video input device. If you miss the prompt, you can manually select the VCE Connector Hub by using the 'Medical Device' button during the session.
After the Session
Disconnect the VCE Connector Hub from your computer and safely store it along with the HDMI and USB cables.
Turn off the medical video source and store it appropriately.
